Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This policy explains what information upvoterank.com (“UpvoteRank”, “we”) collects, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as possible. You can browse and vote without telling us who you are.

When you vote

  • A voting cookie. Your browser receives a cookie called rc_vid containing a random ID. It lets us remember your votes so you can change or remove them, and it stops the same browser voting twice. It does not contain your name or email and is not used for advertising. It expires after two years. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
  • A one-way code of your IP address. To limit how many votes one network can cast, we store a cryptographic hash of your IP address alongside the vote. The original IP address is not stored and cannot be recovered from the hash.
  • The vote itself (which list, which entry, up or down) and the time.

When you comment

We store the name you enter, your email address if you give one, the comment, and the time. Like most WordPress sites, the site also records the IP address and browser details of the commenter to help fight spam. Your email address is never shown publicly.

If you entered an email address, the site may show a profile picture from Gravatar, a service run by Automattic. To check whether you have one, a code derived from your email address is sent to Gravatar. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy.

Your browser may remember the name you typed so you don’t have to enter it again. This is stored only on your own device.

When you suggest an item or contact us

We receive what you write, plus your name and email address if you give them, so we can reply. Contact messages are sent to our email inbox and are not published.

Affiliate links

When you click a “Buy Now” or coupon button, you leave UpvoteRank and go to the store’s website. That store (for example Amazon, Banggood, AliExpress or Geekbuying) may set its own cookies to track the referral and the purchase. Their own privacy policies apply on their sites. We don’t receive your personal details from them, only anonymous reports of how many purchases were referred.

Hosting and server logs

Like every website, our hosting provider automatically records technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to keep the site running and secure. These logs are kept for a limited time.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell your personal data.
  • We don’t use advertising or analytics trackers at the moment. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.
  • We don’t require an account to use the site.

How long we keep data

Votes are kept as long as the list exists, linked only to the random ID and the hashed IP described above. Comments are kept until they or the list are deleted. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to answer them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU or KVKK in Türkiye), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to how it’s used. To make a request, use our contact form. Because votes aren’t linked to your identity, we may only be able to find them if you still have the voting cookie in your browser.

Children

UpvoteRank is not aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
